Orphan Support

Orphan Support Program — Hope Relief Nepal

Losing a parent is hard on any child. In Nepal, it often means losing more than family — school, regular meals, medical care can all disappear at once. Hope Relief Nepal's Orphan Support Program exists to close that gap, so kids who've already lost so much don't lose their childhood too.

Islam is direct about this responsibility. Allah says in the Quran: "Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? For that is the one who repulses the orphan" (Surah Al-Ma'un, 107:1-2). And the Prophet Muhammad ? said, "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him will be in Paradise like this" — holding his index and middle fingers together as recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 6005. That's the standard we're trying to live up to.

1. Education
No child should fall behind just because their family can't cover the cost. We pay school fees, provide uniforms and books, and arrange tutoring for kids who are struggling to keep up.

2. Food
Growing up hungry affects everything — focus, health, mood. We get regular, nutritious meals to orphanages and to families raising orphaned children, including in areas that are easy for aid groups to miss.

3. Health
Regular checkups so problems are caught early. Vaccinations and basic medicine. For children with a disability or a chronic illness, we try to connect them with more specialized, ongoing care.

4. Financial support
Many orphanages and foster families are doing their best but simply don't have enough. We provide direct financial help for living costs, tuition, and medical bills — and where we can, we work toward long-term sustainability rather than one-off support, including training caregivers in basic financial management.

What we've done so far
Since this program started, Hope Relief Nepal has supported orphans across Nepal — through education, healthcare, food, and financial assistance.

Where we're going
Sunan Ibn Majah records the Prophet ? saying that the best house among the Muslims is the one where an orphan is treated well, and the worst is the one where an orphan is treated badly (Hadith 3679). We take that seriously. With continued support from donors and volunteers, we hope to reach more children, more orphanages, more families — so that no child in Nepal has to face the world alone.
