Ramadan Relief Project — Hope Relief Nepal

Ramadan isn't easy for everyone. For a lot of families across Nepal, fasting all day is hard enough without also worrying about what — or if — they'll eat when the sun goes down. That's what our Ramadan Relief Project is about. We want families to be able to fast, pray, and celebrate this month without that extra weight on their shoulders.

Getting food to families who need it
Every Ramadan, our team puts together and delivers food packages so families have what they need for iftar and suhoor — rice, lentils, oil, sugar, tea, the basics that make a proper meal possible. It's not fancy, but it means a family can sit down together and break their fast without stress.

New clothes for Eid
For a lot of kids, new clothes on Eid is the whole thing — it's what they look forward to all month. But for families who are struggling, that's often the first thing that gets cut. So alongside the food packages, we also hand out clothing before Eid, so kids can wake up that morning dressed up and excited like every child deserves to be.

Why we do this during Ramadan
There's a hadith, narrated by Ibn Abbas, that describes the Prophet Muhammad ? as being even more generous than usual during Ramadan — "more generous than the fast-blowing wind," as the saying goes. And in another hadith, recorded by Tirmidhi, the Prophet ? said that anyone who helps feed a fasting person gets a reward just like the fasting person's own reward, without taking anything away from it. That's really the whole idea behind this project — feeding someone isn't just charity, it's participating in their fast with them.

What keeps this going
None of this happens without people who care enough to give — whether that's a donation, a few hours volunteering, or just spreading the word. Every year we try to reach a few more families, a few more villages, so that Ramadan feels like what it's supposed to feel like: a month of coming together, not going without.
